Nice to see Drink Shop and Do expanding next door into a coffee bar – Drink Shop and DASH at 11 Caledonian Road and occupying another former sex shop premises, the old Soho Books. I had a great espresso there – they serve ‘Peruvian coffee, Brazilian filter and 5 British home-made sandwiches everyday at DASH…‘ It’s very good coffee indeed – arguably the best in Kings Cross right now. There’s a constant stream of pics etc from them over in Facebook.

This is great. I love Drink Shop and Do, now here’s another reason to like them.
I have to disagree with you. I went here based on your recommendation (well their larger shop next door) and the coffee was watery plus they charge £3 for it (more than even Costa, Starbucks etc) with a 50p levy for soya milk. The spoon they gave me was dirty and had tea stains on it. I took a coffee loving friend with me who had a cappuccino and he had the same inpression. His was served in a tiny cup and he felt robbed, though my latte was served in a larger glass.
Sure the huge interior is trendy, they have a delicious selection of cakes but all I saw inside were hipsters. It seemed not a place not for locals but the media and fashion darlings now in the area. I may go here again for the cakes and to try the tea (which I did not on this occasion) and the staff were friendly though the girl that brought our coffee was quite slow.
The best coffee I have tasted in the area is further up Cali Road, no. 247, at Cafe Terrace. They serve Illy coffee and the prices are cheaper (than Starbucks even) along with the other pastries and stuff they serve. Sure it’s tiny but if you are looking for decent coffee then I recommend Cafe Terrace.
thanks @papitochulito – i agree that Cafe Terrace is superb, albeit tiny, further up the Cally. But i think we may be talking about two different things here. Drink Shop Dash is coffee-focussed and i haven’t done a coffee tasting in the Do venue next door so can’t make any claims for it. The coffee i had in Dash was excellent.
