Nooooo I loved that street art…. very sad to see it go, replaced by horrible dreary walls opposite my home. The photo says it all, why would anyone want to look at those walls day in day out rather than freely available public art? Bah.
I’ve more of a problem with the fact that these buildings have been derelict for the twenty one years that I’ve lived opposite them. If someone wants to brighten them up a bit that’s fine by me. I’d prefer them to be put to proper use, but I’m not holding my breath.
Hi, these building are currently being redeveloped into social housing apartments (part of a wider regeneration of Regents Quarter Block D). Most of the development is on hold, these apartments are proceeding.
The developers kindly let me in a couple of months ago to look around before redevelopment got underway and I was able to take a few photos. They are extending all the properties to the back to increase floor area with a reduction in garden space.
Personally I would like to see them left as houses, or shops with apartments above as they would have originally been. I would also like to see the entire redevelopment taking place at the same time, as I expect the rest of Regents Quarter Block D will remain derelict for many more years.
Great shame they felt the need to do this, enjoyed seeing the artwork on my lunchtime walk
It looks like P&O have now got the cash they needed to continue the development of the rest of Regents Quarter Block D….
