Pupils and teachers at Copenhagen School and the Elizabeth Garret Anderson School will be celebrating big stylee this week as one-time pupil Alexandra Burke took the X-Factor crown last night.
Not being biased at all, it was the right result – the woman with the voice won it for Islington and King's Cross on the night she fulfilled so many dreams, not least dueting with a woman that deserves the title Diva – Beyonce Knowles.
This is absolutely fantastic news. EGA have visibly tried extremely hard to excel in the last few years. For them it will be brilliant, and it is also wonderful to know that we can call Alexandra Burke a child of our own neighbourhood. Next time we see students from EGA walking through Chapel Market let’s be proud of our local young!
Yes we should be very proud of our local young – there has been far too much bad press about the negative issues of our young people. We should celebrate this acheivement, which sets an example to others, and encourage our young people to aim high and reach those goals for a better future.
Well done Alexandra!!!
I remember Alex and her family very well – they were regulars at our newsagents, which we ran for over 20 years on the Cally – So it makes me extra proud. Her mother Melissa is also an equally talented soul singer.
