Don’t count the chickens but Cllr Convery has received an email suggesting that United House will try to remove the containers before Xmas. However, given this saga only believe it when it happens. And, if you live on a nice roomy street in a poor area where council officials think no one will complain watch out for large blue visitors…………..

Will – you were right – containers are resolutely still with us in 2007 – are United Housing and the Council fobbing us off?
aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
as most of the scaffolding has gone it seems safe to assume that they won’t be using the containers in situ but we seem a long way from resolution on this one
Stuart’s anguish is justified. So, how long can this go on for? The United House people were all set to relocate to Brewery Road. But, I am holding out for a site on the railway lands where it will bother nobody. Even though Brewery is a better option, it still dumps a problem onto someone else’s road. And of course Brewery Road is also in Caledonian ward so I can’t just agree it. I have insisted that Highways do not issue a permit unless there is a proper risk assessment and residents are consulted. However, now that the scaffolding is gone, United House is slightly stuck because they cannot use the facilities as they would like. That puts the pressure on them to find a better solution. So, apols if this means some more days of blue misery but I am determined to stop the bureacrats doing absolutley what they damn well please.
Stuart Cottis has been pressing the council hard on this and revealed some movement behind the scenes – Cllr Convery now thinks the contianers will be moved on 1 February BUT of course the Councillors for the street to which they wil lbe moved are now waking up…….. so best not plan the leaving party just yet
